Spring View Hospital Named Lifepoint Health National Quality Leader
April 24, 2021Spring View Hospital (SVH) today announced that it has been named a LifePoint Health National Quality Leader. This designation recognizes hospitals within the LifePoint Health system that have enrolled in the LifePoint National Quality Program and succeeded in transforming their culture of safety and achieving high standards of quality care, performance improvement and patient engagement
“We are honored and humbled to be named the newest National Quality Leader in the LifePoint Health family and only the 13th out of 87 facilities to earn this designation enterprise-wide,” said Reba Celsor, chief executive officer of Spring View Hospital. “Our team at SVH has worked tirelessly to meet and exceed the highest quality standards in patient care, while enhancing safety and satisfaction for all of those who interact with our team in our facility. Spring View consistently demonstrates a deep commitment to the delivery of high quality and safe patient care, resulting in better health outcomes for our community.”
SVH is a 75-bed acute care facility that has served the Lebanon community for the past 77 years. The hospital and its affiliates employ over 270 people and offer a full range of services including emergency care, geriatric behavioral health, women’s services, orthopedics, ophthalmology, general surgery and more. To achieve LifePoint Health National Quality Leader designation, the SVH team worked to implement a number of best practices and launch new initiatives to engage patients and families, enhance patient safety and improve quality care.
Since beginning the National Quality Program designation process in 2014, Spring View has made a comprehensive effort to improve patient outcomes through a variety of quality and safety initiatives. SVH has achieved and maintained National Chest Pain Accreditation by the American College of Cardiology; has added new service lines and services, including sleep studies (2015), wound care (2018) and geriatric behavioral health (2016); and has maintained zero Clostridium difficile (C. diff) infections in hospitalized patients for more than 12 years, zero central-line associated blood stream infections in hospitalized patients for 11 years, and zero deep vein thrombosis in hospitalized patients for more than 5 years. Additionally, hospital staff members have focused efforts on improving patient satisfaction while decreasing patient fall rates and reducing readmissions. Leaders, physicians, nurses and staff members also receive annual education on National Patient Safety Goals, and more staff members each year earn the Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) credential, which is the highest level of safety certification available.
"We are proud to recognize Spring View Hospital’s outstanding leadership in quality and patient safety," said Victor Giovanetti, FACHE, executive vice president, hospital operations for LifePoint Health. "The hospital team’s achievements over the last several years and their sustained efforts to drive improvements in quality, patient safety, and patient and family engagement are informing best practices across our organization. Their commitment to adopting evidence-based practices as day-to-day operating principles directly advances our mission of Making Communities Healthier."
When hospitals enroll in the National Quality Program, they begin working with LifePoint quality experts to evaluate and strengthen their quality programs and processes. Following an initial evaluation, the hospital creates a plan and begins to employ changes that will help it achieve quality improvement benchmarks and establish long-term solutions to sustain its results.
In addition to evaluating common quality care and patient safety metrics, the LifePoint National Quality Program focuses on foundational elements required to sustain quality care, including committed leadership, systems to ensure continuous performance and process improvement, and a culture dedicated to safety. LifePoint Health National Quality Leader designation denotes those hospitals that have achieved a broad range of criteria in each of these areas and demonstrate a capacity to continuously measure and improve quality and patient safety.
“We want our community to always count on Spring View Hospital for exceptional patient care, and this important quality designation demonstrates that our team is performing at the highest level,” said Samantha Port, DNP, MBA, RNC, CPPS, CPH, director of quality and risk management. “I am proud every day to carry out our mission of Making Communities Healthier.”
